The IDEAS Journal: Fashion, Decor, Opinions, & More! is a thoughtfully curated collection of beautiful things, ideas, and my personal commentary on culture.
It began as a print publication, not because I oppose digital media, but because I love the experience of holding something in my hands. Some of the most meaningful connections I’ve had with ideas, images, and stories have happened online. Still, there is something about the tactility of paper that I continue to be drawn to. The act of turning a page, lingering over a photograph, or returning to a favorite passage creates a different kind of experience, one that has often inspired me in my own creative work.
Lately, though, I’ve realized I have more to say than can fit within the rhythm of a bimonthly publication. Alongside the fashion, imagery, and inspiration that have always shaped this project, I want the freedom to write more often and about whatever happens to be on my mind. For now, Substack feels like the right place to bring all of those things together.
What to expect.
Well, since I’m extremely new here, this what you can expect from me as of now:

and written opinions on random topics I’ve been thinking about.
Please grant me a bit of time to develop a rhythm for post frequency and variety. The freedom this platform provides is certainly exciting, but something I need to get used to as well.
Who am I?
My name is Michael Andolsek, and I’m a former dressmaker. For more than a decade, I specialized in women’s custom apparel and ready to wear fashion. After years of designing exclusively for my own business, I left Salt Lake City in search of a new chapter. I’ve since settled in Atlanta, though I’m still exploring exactly what comes next. In the meantime, I’ve decided to bring together the many things that interest and inspire me. The result has been a bimonthly print publication, but now it will be here, online, and far more frequent.
